Wanda Bedard, 60 million girls’ President & Founder, has been invited to present our work at a parallel session to the United Nations CSW69 in New York in March 2025. The 69th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69), the United Nations’ largest annual gathering on gender equality and women’s empowerment, will take place from March 10 to 21.
Under the theme “Educating Women and Girls: Advancing their Empowerment and Equality” 60 million girls is honoured to have been selected by the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) as one of four panelists for a 90-minute parallel session they are presenting along with Women Graduates-USA at the CSW69 in New York on March 13, 2025 .
Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and NGOs from all regions of the world are expected at CSW69 which will focus primarily on the review and appraisal of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the outcomes of the 23rd special session of the General Assembly.
With our fellow panelists, we look forward to discussing progress and a way forward for women and girls to:
- meet challenges to equality and empowerment presented by cultural barriers and influencers;
- open doors to leadership;
- develop critical thinking skills;
- enable participation of women and girls in the development and governance of new technologies like artificial intelligence.
