Donate your Aeroplan miles

60 million girls is a participating charity in Aeroplan’s Charitable Pooling Program. You can donate Aeroplan miles to the Foundation, which we will be able to redeem to help pay for travel, car rental and hotel expenses of speakers whom we invite to our annual conference. There are 4 simple steps to follow to donate your miles:

     4. Donate your miles!

Planned giving

You can make a meaningful impact on the lives of children around the world by leaving a charitable bequest to 60 million girls. The simplest way is to name the Foundation in your will. Bequests can be a specific amount, a percentage or residue of your estate, or any other asset. You can designate the Foundation as a beneficiary of a retirement savings plan, a pension fund or life insurance policy. Upon your death, your estate will receive a charitable tax receipt for the value of the gift. Please contact your notary or financial advisor to decide which kind of donation would be most advantageous from a tax perspective.

Gifts of publicly traded stocks and mutual funds

Did you know that the Canada Revenue Agency offers an attractive incentive on gifts of publicly traded securities? You can make a gift of shares, bonds or mutual funds, thereby eliminating the capital gains tax. However, to benefit from this tax credit, your securities must be transferred directly to the 60 million girls Foundation, without selling them first. You will not be taxed on the capital gains and, moreover, you will receive a tax receipt for the value of the shares at the time of transfer.
