December 2019
We are a small organization making a big impact!
60 million girls invests in innovative educational initiatives for vulnerable children – especially girls – to improve the quality of education.
We believe that touching the life of even one child can make all the difference for that individual. Every child has the right to a quality education.
You can help!
All funds raised this year will go towards our projects in South Sudan, Togo, Zambia and Zimbabwe. You can read about them HERE.
This holiday season, don’t underestimate the power of education. Did you know that a secondary school education vastly increases earning potential for girls and women, while reducing child marriage and improving health? In other words, education is transformative.
Please help us reach our 2019 target of $300,000. It takes only a click to make the world a better place.
When you make a donation on behalf of those special people in your life, please, ask us to send them a card in your name with a message of your choice.
All donations are 100% tax deductible. An income tax receipt will be mailed to you in February 2020.
We wish you all a wonderful holiday season!
Acts of kindness
At the end of each year, we turn over your donations to our partner organizations. Your generosity this year will support our educational projects in South Sudan, Togo, Zambia and Zimbabwe. THANK YOU!
We are fortunate to have the support of so many generous donors. You are the backbone of our Foundation. Here are some examples of our supporters’ generosity:
Two years ago, we wrote about Catherine who hosts intimate dinners for small groups of Vancouverites. Catherine’s Moveable Feast is a supper club that, monthly, continues to feature scrumptious menus for discerning palates. At the end of each year, Catherine turns over all the profits of these meals to 60 million girls. Our grateful thanks, Catherine, for your generosity and for spreading the word about us!
Paul Marchand has known Wanda Bedard for many years and has been greatly impressed by her passion and initiative in supporting girls’ education in the developing world. As head of the Montréal Financial Centre, Paul has received awards from Sun Life Financial on several occasions to mark his success in the field of insurance and investment, as well as his success in the community. In addition, he is an outstanding philanthropist and a stalwart supporter of several local charities in Montreal, including 60 million girls. In recognition of his many achievements, Sun Life Financial has made donations in Paul’s name to the Foundation. Thank you for your generosity!
Marlene Wagner and five other students are currently enrolled at McGill University. As part of a leadership course, they had to dedicate eight hours of volunteering to improve gender equality worldwide. They decided to fundraise for 60 million girls. It’s extraordinary what a combined effort can produce: lots of hilarity (as you can see in this video) as they prepared their baked goods and a very successful bake sale. They sold their wares to the students on campus, all the while informing them about the Foundation’s work. The bake sale was held on October 21st and raised $170 for 60 million girls – proof that every little bit counts.
The Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore Montreal has been a stalwart supporter of 60 million girls and this year was no exception. At our conference, Christian Aubert, its president, presented a cheque of $10,000 to Wanda Bedard. Like us, all its members are volunteers who work to raise funds through a variety of events. We are immensely grateful for their continued support of the Foundation and of girls’ education and empowerment in developing countries.
We have mentioned Bluedrop Performance Learning before as this e-learning company, based in St John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, has supported us for many years. This year was no exception. Our many thanks for their continued support!
14th annual conference
We were thrilled to welcome so many supporters and partner organizations to our annual conference on November 11th. Thank you so much for coming out on a snowy evening to support education, and to learn more about some of the amazing education projects taking place around the world. We’d like to extend a special thank you to the students from Collège Sainte-Anne, who again showed incredible dedication to girls’ education. Click here to read more.
