This is what you call a silver lining.

Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girl who was shot in 2012 by the Taliban for her activism towards girls’ education, has set up a $45,000 grant towards her cause.

The grant will help support the education of 40 girls in Swat Valley, Pakistan.  These girls, aged 5 to 12, would otherwise be forced to work to support their families, or are at risk of entering the labor force instead of going to school. It will provide uniforms, shoes, learning materials and a stipend for their families, the statement said.

You can read the New York Times article here.  It seems this is only the beginning of great changes Malala and girls like her will bring!
