October 2025
We would like to update you on our Climate Change Resources Database on Notion, effective September 2025.
In general news:
- YouTube has recently made the download of videos available only through its Premium version.
a. At this time, we know of downloading them by using a 3rd party software such as: 4K Video Downloader Plus – 10 downloads free daily
b. To our understanding, one can use the videos as per Canada’s “fair dealing” provisions in its Copyright Act that allow for limited use of copyrighted material without permission or payment for specific purposes like research, private study, education, parody, satire, criticism, review, or news reporting. To qualify, the use must be “fair,” which is determined by several factors (purpose, character, amount, alternatives, nature of the work, and effect on the market). While fair dealing can apply to some uses, it’s a legal defence rather than a blanket permission, and its application to downloading an entire YouTube video for general personal use is generally limited.
- Both our Student and Educator databases have been enriched with new resources, providing more comprehensive tools and templates for academic and teaching purposes. The total resources for Students is up from 87 to 123, and for Educators up from 22 to 83.
Based on feedback during our April webinar about Notion, we have made changes to the formatting to ensure that information is both easy to find and optimized for different needs.
- We have added columns for Accessibility, Date Content was Uploaded to Notion and Publication Year. Also, file size is gradually being added to the Resource Name column. The addition of this information is a work in progress.
- We are working on two new themes and will be adding content for:
- Climate Change and Health Risks
- Climate Change and Disability
Finally, if you have resources to add to the database please send it to us through the Submit a Resource form near the end of database.
