Meet the Create4Good Game Team
The Create4Good | 60 million girls game team is powered by four generous and talented video game designers: Alfredo Chaves, Marco Purich, Fredérique Émel Carpentier, and Mégane Abel. These professionals have been working pro bono on the project since April 2024, building the foundation of the game design with many ideas generated during the C4G weekend, including the development of avatars and characters.
Alfredo Chaves
With a diverse background in the video game industry, including key positions at EA Montreal, Blue Lizard Games, and Meta4, he has demonstrated a keen ability to blend entertainment with education. His collaborations with Grupo Santillana and École Polytechnique highlight his commitment to using gaming as a powerful educational tool. At AI-Redefined, he further expanded his expertise into the realm of AI, focusing on human-in-the-loop reinforcement learning, showcasing his versatility and innovative approach to game design and development. His work not only pushes the boundaries of interactive entertainment but also explores the potential of games as a medium for learning and human-AI collaboration.
Marco Purich
Marco is a programmer by profession but also has an artistic background. As such, he has been mixing art and tech in his personal and professional projects both before and after he graduated from McGill in Computer Science. He has experience working in game development (from design to programming) in a variety of work arrangements from freelance, to startup, to established companies, and is currently working as a gameplay programmer at Gameloft.
Frédérique Émel Carpentier
I’m a multidisciplinary creative professional with over 25 years’ experience in the field of design and visual conception. I’ve developed many digital games and experiences, designed and built many economy and progression systems, and told many immersive stories through my games and levels. I’m an avid gamer in all its forms; video games, board games, card games and, above all, tabletop RPGs (including over 35 years playing Dungeons & Dragons). I’m also passionate about human history, mainly the Viking and medieval eras. I founded the Association Médiévale de Québec, of which I’m still an active member.
“I believe in personal development through play, which is an underestimated platform that can contribute a great deal to the learning and empowerment of young people and children. As the father of a 21-year-old girl who is realizing her dreams, I’d like to be able to offer other young girls around the world the chance to fulfill their goals and develop self-confidence”.
Mégane Abel
I am a student in video game design with a background in languages. I am still a junior in this industry, but I believe that my passion for creating and my desire to make people dream can be perfectly transferred to this field. I have traveled a lot, which has allowed me to develop a strong sense of openness, and I know how to adapt regardless of the environment around me. This ability applies equally to the different types of games I have created (in school) and will create (in a studio).
Video games have been an integral part of my life for a short time, but my interest in rich cultures scattered around the world has been long-standing.
‘’When I was approached for this project, its target audience and purpose immediately resonated with me.’’
