This BBC “in pictures” story follows 8-year old Sylvia, who lives in in rural Tanzania and is determined to get an education. Sylvia walks 1 and a half hours to get to school every day, and this slideshow follows her on her incredible journey. Despite the obstacles she faces to get an education, Sylvia is one of the lucky ones in Africa, where 29 million primary school-aged children, more than half of them girls, are out of school .
